Michelle joined the Southern ITS Team in 2011 as a Specialist Occupational Therapist.  She has over 10 year's experience within the public, private and charitable sector.

 

Within her role as Specialist OT, Michelle has worked for a number of local authorities managing complex cases for adults and children with a disability and was lead housing OT for two of these authorities.  Michelle has in depth expertise in working with clients in their own home to assess functional needs by providing relevant support and advice, she also implements the packages to maximise independence in the home and community.  This includes sourcing equipment and liaising with building specialists to oversee project managment of building works before, during and after completion.

 

Michelle also works with children at the Children's Trust in Tadworth and as lead paediatric wheelchair therapist for the Central London Wheelchair Trust.  With both positions Michelle has gained experience of assessing children with a wide range of disabilities. 

 

Michelle has extensive experience in helping clients achieve optimal functional recovery and a return to independent living.  Where recovery is unable to be achieved Michelle is well versed in providing an approach which will allow the client to maximise their independence, well-being and quality of life.

 

Alongside her role as an OT, Michelle also has an interest and experience in Case Management.  She was a speaker at the 2011 Case Managers Conference and belongs to both The Case Managment Society and  The British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers.
