About Helen
Helen joined the Southern ITS team in 2011 as a Solutions Focussed Specialist Speech & Language Therapist. Prior to her role with ITS she has over 8 years of extensive therapeutic experience in PCTs and Community Services. Her cases within these services covered working with pre-school children, school aged children and adults with a wide range of communication difficulties.
Helen has experience of working with young people and adults with Learning difficulties and many years of experience working with young people thought to be or formally diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
One of Helen's areas of interest and specialism is within Hearing Impairment/Deafness, she has worked largely with children with hearing aids and young people with Cochlear implants. Helen's involvement with this has involved family liaison and discussion from the initial implant and the following listening/speech sound development. Helen has also specialised in Speech Sound and Phonological therapy for children.
In order to achieve therapy outcomes Helen always delivers a joined up/informed approach with specially developed programmes in tandem with families and carers.
