
Emma uses a range of psychological theories and research
to inform her practice. She develops her knowledge and skills through
professional development, reflective practice and engagement with research.
Emma has been working in the field of educational psychology
for four years and she has also previously worked in a range of social care,
school and pupil referral unit settings. Emma has a doctorate in Educational
and Child Psychology and she is additionally a qualified teacher having worked
at both primary and secondary level.
Emma's areas of special interest include:
• Educational exclusion, identity
development and social inclusion.
• Psychology of speech, language and
communication needs.
• The development of positive mental
health and emotional well being amongst school age pupils.
• Social, emotional and behavioural
development of children from preschool age through to secondary age
• Attachment theory and early
nurture.
Through consultation with parents, teachers and other
professionals and drawing on solution focused practice, Emma, as a member of
Partners in Psychology, identifies the best hopes and goals for work together
with her clients and their families.
