Emily is a Play/Dramatherapist offering support and facilitation to children and adults of all ages who may benefit from therapeutic intervention. She has been a member of the ITS team since April 2010 as an Arts Therapist and took on the role of Area Manager for The Midlands & Southern Teams in May 2011.
Emily holds an MA in Drama/Play Therapy from Derby University and a BA in Professional Musical Theatre from The Birmingham School of Speech & Drama. She is is HPC-Registered and is a member of The British Association of Dramatherapists.
Prior to qualifying as a Drama and Play Therapist Emily trained predominantly in Music and Drama. This background provides her with the flexibility to incorporate all aspects of the arts into her practice including Drama, Music, Art, Movement and Play, offering a tailored approach to the client, working in a directional and non-directional manner. Emily implements a creative approach which is based in psychological and psychotherapeutic theory and can be used in 'talking' and 'non-talking' therapy.
Emily considers the formation of the therapeutic alliance between therapist, client and families paramount to achieving these targets.
Emily is happy to meet with clients on weekdays and occasional evenings.
