I.T.S. would like to introduce you to our:
 

Service Manager

 
Sarah Davis (Previously Needham):
 
Sarah founded Integrated Treatment Services in 2006 following a successful partnership in Independent therapy and a long standing history within the NHS.  
Sarah qualified from De Montfort University in March 2000.
 
Sarah is highly skilled in working with a complex client group, including those with autistic spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, head injury, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
 
Sarah has delivered therapy within a range of statutory and independent schools as well as with clients within their home.   Sarah has worked with care settings including those with Adult Learning Difficulties.
 
Sarah prides herself in making her therapy accessible to both parents, teaching staff and of course her clients.  She believes in joined up therapy targets, providing therapy that is motivating, fun and target based.
 
Sarah incorporates a range of approaches, using those that most motivate the child.  Sarah is skilled at using;

Sarah is highly knowledgeable about the educational and health statutory systems, including that of statementing and NHS referral routes.  
Sarah is trained as an expert witness for SEN and Litigation claims, so that she is able to support her team of therapists in this field where required.
 
Sarah has an excellent working knowledge of services available across the Midlands, signposting services to her clients and those working with therapists within her team.
 
Sarah’s personal and professional approach helps clients and families feel they have a friend and a therapist supporting them, taking each step together.

Amie Burrows:
 
Amie joined the team at I.T.S. during 2010. She is a highly skilled Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist who  enjoys working with children with a wide range of communication difficulties.
 
She shows particular interest in working with young children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, developmental delay/disorder and older children with social communication needs.

Amie has training in:

Amie has experience of running groups for children with a range of social communication and language needs. 
 
Amie has worked in mainstream schools that focus on inclusion and is skilled in liaising with teaching staff to incorporate targets in to the daily curriculum.
 
Amie has also worked in a clinical setting working with children with speech sound and language difficulties. 
 
Amie is also able to offer therapy sessions to adolescents and young adults with communication difficulties, including those with presentation difficulties, volume, pace, clarity and confidence.
 
She strongly believes in working closely with other professionals in order to meet her clients needs in a holistic way and setting joint targets for therapy that are fun, motivating and accessible to parents, teaching staff and clients. 
 
Amie can see children during the weekdays and weekends.
 
Melanie Carte

Melanie joined the team at I.T.S in 2009. 
 
Melanie works across a range of client groups, including both children and adults.   She is a highly skilled Pediatric speech and language therapist who qualified from De Montfort University.
 
She shows a particular interest in the fields of developmental delay/disorder, high level language difficulties and social communication needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and clients who are harder to reach.
 
Melanie also enjoys working with adults with acquired communication difficulties, stroke, head injury and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) needs.
 
Melanie builds a fast rapport with her clients, adults and children alike.  She works quickly to form a joined up therapy plan, incorporating functional ideas into daily routines.
 
Melanie is trained in Talk Tools and can offer assessment and therapy to both adults and clients within this field.
 
Melanie has along standing experience of working within schools and can co-deliver therapy targets within busy settings.
 
Melanie builds a strong rapport with her clients, making therapy fun and motivating.

Sarah Savage
 
Sarah has joined the team at I.T.S during 2009. 
 
She is a highly skilled Paediatric speech and language therapist who has experience in working with a complex client group, including those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disabilities, Language Impairment and challenging behaviour.
 
She is very skilled at working with young children who require a range of communication methods to express their needs.  She has training in sensory processing needs and is aware of these techniques within her therapy. 
 
Sarah is trained in Talk Tools Therapy and specialises in phonology (speech sounds) and language difficulties.
 
Sarah is keen to combine Talk Tools with traditional speech games and activities to help your child correct their speech sound errors and motivate them to improve the clarity of their speech.
 
Sarah ensures her sessions are fun and active so your child will feel at ease and will enjoy coming to their sessions each week with a holistic approach considered to support all of your child's needs whilst also supporting and empowering families and school staff to continue games and activities at home.

Sarah has worked within special educational schools as well as supporting children across mainstream schools and nurseries.
 
She enjoys working with teenagers with high level language and social communication needs and is able to form an excellent rapport with this client group helping to develop their speech, language and communication skills quickly.

Sarah is skilled at liaising with teachers in order to incorporate therapy targets into the daily curriculum and has co- delivered lessons with teaching staff throughout previous and current posts.

Clare Thornton-Jones:
 
Clare joined the team at  I.T.S during 2009. 
 
Clare provides the team with a range of experience, particularly in the field of speech and language delay/disorder and dyspraxia.
 
Clare has held previous posts at the Nuffield Dyspraxia centre and Dawn House,  this enables Clare to deliver a thorough and effective service to those clients with long standing speech sound and/or language difficulties, including those with dyspraxia and or associated hearing or structural difficulties.

Clare’s skills also lend to themselves to further clients groups such as those with Downs Syndrome and acquired articulation disorders.
 
Clare is undertaking further training in the area of dysfluency and can work with clients requiring self esteem and confidence building work.

Clare delivers her therapy support to children and their parents/carers within our clinic or her clients schools and homes.

Louise Usher:
 
Louise joined I.T.S. in 2010.  Louise is a highly qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist with an
extensive background in Early Years and Education.
 
She has experience in working with a caseload of children with complex communication needs between the ages of 5-19 years old, offering a good working knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorder,  includingAsperger Syndrome, ADHD, challenging behaviour, learning disability and mental health.
 
Louise has knowledge and skills in:

She enjoys focusing on holistic functional communication, supporting key staff to feel confident in carrying out therapy.  Louise is aware of the impact of sensory processing needs whilst carrying out therapy.

Louise is able to provide some week day, evenings and weekend appointments.  

Sandra Youlden

Sandra is dual trained also working as a specialist teacher within specialist school settings.

Sandra is experienced at supporting children with speech sound and language difficulties, motivating children to improve their clarity of speech and their language for thinking.

She is excellent at working with children on the Autistic Spectrum motivating children to find reasons to communicate their every day needs, as well as supporting parents.

Being a teacher, enables Sandra to understand the demands on teaching staff, thereby sensitively including communication opportunities into the teaching environment.

Sandra also has a range of experience supporting clients using alternative means of communication, from low tech switches to more high tech communication aids. Sandra was the Communication aids project coordinator for her area and has assessed many children requiring communication aids.

Sandra’s organised and accessible approach makes her extremely supportive to parents, helping
inform parents further about communicative opportunities to develop further skills in their child.

Sarah Bennington: 
 
Sarah  is a newly-qualified Speech and Language Therapist, having obtained her MMedSci from the University of Sheffield in January 2010.
 
She is registered with the Health Professions Council and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
 
As a generalist therapist she enjoys working with both adults and children with a range of communication difficulties.  
 
As part of her studies Sarah has developed her research skills to ensure that her practice is based on peer-reviewed, critically appraised and up-to-date research literature.
 
Sarah has joined the team to write weekly articles for I.T.S. about recent updates in the field that may be of interest to parents, carers and individuals with swallowing and communication difficulties.
 
Sarah is passionate about conveying information in a way that is accessible and easily understood, and hopes that this is reflected in her writing.
 
 

Occupational Therapists:

 
Grace Walton:

Grace qualified as an Occupational Therapist in July 2005 from University of Northampton. 
 
Since qualifying Grace has worked in an acute setting both in adults and paediatrics, gaining valuable Occupational Therapy knowledge in a large hospital trust.
Grace then continued her rotation and worked within the Leicester City Council Promoting Independence Unit, specialising in moving and handling equipment, housing adaptations, re-housing reports and specialist assessments. 
 
Grace also has specialised experience in community paediatrics, working with children with disabilities in both mainstream and specialist schools and their homes. Assessing for specialist seating, bathing equipment, functional skills, social skills and independence skills.
 
Currently Grace is working within the Disabled Children's Team within the Leicester City Council. Assessing and working with children and their families in their homes, completing specialist assessments to identify their needs and providing Occupational Therapy intervention.
 
Grace has a keen interest in working with Children and Adults who have a range of conditions to promote thier independence in their own homes. Providing OT intervention to improve thier functional skills in everyday life.  Grace likes to build a good rapport with her clients and their close families or carer's in order to plan appropriate intervention to optimise their personal level of independence and functioning.
 
Grace can offer evening and weekend appointments.
 

Creative Expressive Therapists:
 

Emily Bredon:                                                                                                                            
 
Emily is a Creative Expressive Therapist offering support and facilitation to children and adults
 of all ages who may benefit from therapeutic intervention. 

 Emily incorporates all aspects of the arts into her practice including drama, music, art, movement and play, offering a tailored approach to the client, working in a directional and non-directional manner. 
 
She holds a Masters Degree in Dramatherapy from Derby University, state registration pending. 

Emily has experience working with groups, individuals and with families, using arts therapies tools such as

  • E.P.R.(Embodiment, Role & Projection)
  • Six Part Story method
  • Sandplay
  • Dramatic Enactment
Emily has clinical experience in varied settings including Play Therapy establishments, working with young children who have experienced trauma and in day centres offering support to adults with learning disabilities. 
 
Most recently Emily has worked with a local musician and small group of adults with learning disabilities to create a piece of theatre for a Mencap anti-bullying campaign.

She aims to promote:

Emily considers the formation of the therapeutic alliance between therapist, client and families paramount to achieving these targets.
 

Clinic co-ordinator:
 

 
Sharron Jones

Sharron has a range of experience in administrative responsibilities and has supported a team of colleagues in preparation for daily client contacts.
 
Sharron joins our team to help ensure that all ITS therapists have the assistance needed to prepare therapy resources, loan equipment and book appointments.
 
Sharron will also become a point of contact for parents and settings, who have questions or queries regarding invoices.
 
Sharron will ensure that our clients feedback is regularly updated and will support any changes that can aid our clients accessing ITS services.
 

All I.T.S. therapists have previous experience within the NHS and /or Independent settings.  Our therapists build a quick and longer lasting rapport with the client and those working with the client.  They quickly and effectively liaise with our NHS  and independent multi - disciplinary colleagues and can take a lead to co-ordiante a thorough and effective plan of intervention across the team.
