Expanding our therapy team

To meet the ever expanding referrals we receive from settings and families across the Midlands. I.T.S. is pleased to inform you of our new team members.

I.T.S. would like to introduce you to:

Amy Bradwell

Amy has recently joined our team after moving to the area.  She enjoys working with children who have specific speech sound and language difficulties.

Amy is also skilled at working with children who have special educational needs.  She has previously worked within special educational schools as well as supporting children across mainstream schools and nurseries.

She is skilled at liaising with teachers in order to incorporate therapy targets into the daily curriculum.  Amy also ensures that functional therapy targets are agreed with parents to incorporate into the daily routine.

Amy has worked closely with children and young adults who stammer and has devised clinical pathways for this client group within her previous NHS trust.  Amy is therefore able to offer assessment and ongoing therapy appointments for both children and adults who are dysfluent.

Amy's friendly and enthusiastic approach means she is readily accepted by children and teaching staff and is quick to form a trusting relationship with the family to work on joined up therapy targets.
Mark Allcock

Mark has worked for 10 years in a collection of specialist settings and also has experiance of working in settings supporting children with a wide range of communication and feeding difficulties. Mark has a post-graduate training qualification in feeding difficulties (dysphagia), alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) and in a variety of approaches to help parents, teachers and others support clients to communicate successfully.

Mark has a good knowledge of Hanen, PECS, Derbyshire Language scheme, Cued articulation and Makaton.

Mark believes that all children can and do communicate, often more with their families than with others; regardless of any diagnosis or prognosis.

Mark enjoys the challenge of working with children/young adults and their families in developing
more effective communication environments.

Jill Thorne

Jill works across a range of client groups, showing particular interests in the fields of developmental delay and speech sound delays/disorders, stammering, voice work, hearing impairment and down syndrome.

Jill has been trained by the Michael Pailin centre and is able to use the Lydcombe approach for clients who are dysfluent (stammerers). She can offer appointments for both children and adults who are dysfluent.

Jill is experienced in accessing clients in both their home, nursery and school settings, working with teachers to support communication opportunities within the classroom.

Jill’s approachable and friendly manner, makes her readily accepted by school staff, parents and the child allowing a fast approach to co-ordinating the therapy targets and provision for the child.

Jane Gregory

Jane has a long standing background within the NHS health care system, working with older children and young adults with learning disabilities.

Jane has provided therapy to a number of our contracted settings supporting both functional communication targets within education and care routines.  Jane has a breadth of experience in supporting young people to communicate their every day needs, increasing the choices available to them and coaching staff in recognising how to utilise every day communication opportunities.

Jane currently provides support to I.T.S reviewing articles around speech and language that have appeared recently in the news.    She is eager to update our clients, parents and settings about useful resources, websites and therapy approaches, ensuring that you are kept up to date at all times.

Jane provides support to the I.T.S team of therapists ensuring that Professional Development

courses, Special Interest Groups, therapy resources and approaches are all signposted each
month for our therapists to access.

Sharon Jones

Sharon has a range of experience in administrative responsibilities and has supported a team of colleagues in preparation for daily client contacts.

Many of our referrals come via word of mouth and we therefore thank you for feeding back your thoughts and requests so that we can continually improve our service enabling you to feel confident in recommending us to a friend or colleague.

As our referrals increase, we are always keen to meet new therapists who might like to join our friendly and supportive team. Tell us more about your working arrangements through our careers form.
