Therapists utilise an inter modal approach, using expression in general to facilitate clients rather than a specific approach such as music therapy, art therapy or drama therapy alone.

How do the sessions run:
Sessions can be purchased by a family and can take place in the family home, the client's educational setting or in our clinic.
Educational and Care establishments can contract services in sessions to take place within the setting. Therapists are trained to joint coach and skill up support staff, so that these sessions can be repeated at different times across the week, to generalise the skills learnt.

Emily Breden


Area Manager and Creative Expressive Therapist
Emily is a Creative Expressive Therapist offering support and facilitation to children and adults of all ages who may benefit from therapeutic intervention. She has been a member of the ITS team since April 2010 as Creative Expressive Therapist and took on the role of Area Manager in May 2011.
Prior to qualifying as a Drama and Play Therapist Emily trained predominantly in Music and Drama. This background provides her with the flexibility to incorporate all aspects of the arts into her practice including Drama, Music, Art, Movement and Play, offering a tailored approach to the client, working in a directional and non-directional manner. Emily implements a creative approach which is based in psychological and psychotherapeutic theory and can be used in 'talking' and 'non-talking' therapy.
Emily holds an MA in Drama/Play Therapy from Derby University and a BA in Professional Musical Theatre from The Birmingham School of Speech & Drama. She is is HPC-Registered and is a member of The British Association of Dramatherapists.

Katy Tozer


Katy joined the ITS team in 2011 as Creative Expressive Therapist.
She is a fully qualified Dramatherapist, graduating from the University of Derby in 2011.
Katy has experience in working in a wide range of client groups in various educational and health settings, specialist schools and mental health centres.
Last year, she also spent some time in South Africa providing creative workshops to primary aged children living in underprivaledged and HIV affected areas.
Katy has particular interest in using story, play and masks along with other dramatic tools in the therapuetic process.
She believes that working creatively can be hugely beneficial to development and more general wellbeing.
