Therapists trained in Sensory Processing Difficulties

Members of our therapy team have recently had the opportunity to become trained in sensory processing/sensory modulation difficulties. Some of you may be more familiar with the term 'sensory integration difficulties'.

Three of our speech and language therapists; Sarah, Shelley, Sandra aswell as Shean our Occupational Therapist, have had the benefit of training with a Sensory Integration trained therapist Nika Oberholster from South Africa.

Nika is highly skilled in working with children and adolescents who present with sensory difficulties and she provides a fantastic service through her practice BriteKidz.

We have committed to continue to develop our skills in sensory profiling, liaising with Nika and local therapists across the Midlands, so that we can deliver these services to you and your families.

More of our therapists shall train in this approach in March and we shall take further training to continue to update our skills as a team within the specialist field.

Sensory processing affects many of the clients we work with, particularly those on the autistic spectrum. We genuinely feel that sensory processing therapy is the route in to many of our clients, because unless we work at this lower foundation level of development we can not expect the client to make progress in attention and listening, language and learning.
